Dose of Colors Meet Your Hue Foundation & Concealer Review

I know I know! Where have I been!? 2019 was so crazy for me! I have tried several times to sit down and blog but I never got the chance to post for many reasons. On top of that, I also did not wear makeup for a good 70% of the year. I felt so uninspired and had no energy to play in makeup. I am so happy that feeling has finally subsided and I am finally back doing what I love and enjoy.  Thank you for still supporting me even while I have been on this 7 month hiatus. My blog has still managed to grow and I am so thankful. I hope you all had a great 2019 and are having a beautiful holiday season. If you are still interested in my opinion on makeup, please keep reading for my review of the Dose of Colors Meet Your Hue Foundation & Concealer...

Dose of Colors released their first foundation and concealer this past July. I know I am kind of late with this review but hey, better late than never right?! I was extremely excited to try this product because I love this brand! I don't think I have ever bought something from this brand and not liked it.

The Foundation

Claim: "Meet your hue vegan and cruelty free foundation. Natural matte finish, medium to full buildable coverage, skin-like feel. Available in 42 all inclusive shades. Six different complexion categories: fair, light, light medium, medium tan, dark and deep. Each category features seven different foundation shades."

The Application
The first time I applied this foundation I used a damp beauty sponge. The consistency of the foundation is a good mix of thin and thick.  When I applied a couple pumps of the foundation, I immediately noticed it thinning out with the sponge and needed to apply more to cover some of my hyperpigmentation. The second layer I applied the second layer I could still see some of my very dark scars peeking through slightly but nothing too major. The second time I used this foundation I applied it with a brush. I highly recommend using a brush for maximum coverage. I only needed a couple of pumps to cover my entire face including my hyperpigmentation.  The foundation dried down to a beautiful soft matte finish. I set my foundation with my holy grail Sephora Collection MicroSmooth Baked Foundation Face Powder.

Wear Test
This foundation was really put to the test! The first time I wore it, I had it on for 24 hours (gross, I know!) and the second time I had it on for 14 hours. This foundation is pretty amazing. The finish is so matte but not too matte. Like previous wear tests, I did not blot the entire time I had the foundation on. By the end of the day, I looked dewy but in a healthy way. The best part is it did not feel heavy. I literally forgot I had foundation on several times and almost rubbed or scratched my face because it felt that light! I also loved that this foundation did not settle into my laugh lines. This foundation really impressed me. I have not stopped using it these past couple of weeks!

The Concealer

Claim: "Meet your hue vegan and cruelty free Concealer. Our multitasking, full coverage concealer has a lightweight easy to blend formula. Conceals dark undereye circles, blemishes and other skin imperfections. Available in 30 all inclusive shades. Six different complexion categories: fair, light, light medium, medium tan, dark and deep. Each category features five different concealer shades."

The Application
We all know the Tarte Shape Tape concealer took over the beauty community a few years ago and is still a favorite to many beauty lovers. I compare all of my concealers to Shape Tape because I love it that much. This concealer comes very close to it! The texture of this concealer is very similar to Shape Tape but just slightly thinner. I used a damp beauty sponge to blend it out and noticed immediately how full the coverage is. You need very little of this product to cover any of your trouble areas. I did try a brush to blend it out and the coverage was almost too much! I definitely prefer a beauty sponge over the brush because it dials back the intensity of the coverage. I set this concealer with some loose translucent powder.

Wear Test
I hate to admit this (because I feel like I am cheating on Shape Tape) but this concealer is just as good as Shape Tape. The coverage is amazing, it lasts for several hours, and looks flawless the entire time. The only negative I  found in this concealer is the smell. Now, I know some people could care less what a product smells like but there are some who will not use a product because of the smell regardless of how good the product is. This concealer has a mild paint smell that disappears shortly after it has been applied to the face. I honestly did not notice it until I sat down to do this review. It personally does not bother me and I will definitely continue to use this, especially during the colder weather because the formula is thinner and not as matte as Shape Tape. If you are a die hard fan of Tarte Shape Tape like myself, please do yourself a favor and give this concealer a try.

Thank you so much for reading! Again, I want to thank you all for sticking with me during my hiatus. I have so many plans for my blog in the new year and I cannot wait to share them. Cheers to 2020!
